Hi LF, yes, optical cables and devices are good and reasonably cheap today, anyway copper cables can transport power supply to remote pre-amps, etc.. Regards D.

Hello Menno, The dissipated power of the 2N5109 with a supply voltage of 12 V is about 200 mW. So the BF199 will probably survive. 2N5109's are still availeble here: http://www.kitsandparts.com/index
