There are two main reasons for the decline in activity on 136kHz. Firstly, most of those interested in experimenting at low frequencies have migrated to 500kHz. This is exactly what happened to 73kHz

The migration has never been evident. Where has the 31 countries gone that were active on 137 khz some years ago, certainly not on 500 khz. The utility stations, although not desireable are not a pro
