Pete, Try to ground your inv L at the end, e.g. with aluminium foil out of the household, say 5m*0,3m. The impedance will drop since the C will rise. Thus, the needed L and the voltage will decrease!

Rik, Alan, I think we think about the same: using the inv-L as a vertical loop by using the ground. Wouldn't it be easier to use a aluminium foil to get proper C (to ground), especially when talking

Hi Stefan, I am not sure about your aluminium foil idea. I worry that this will form a lossy capacitor because the dielectric a think film of ali oxide will break down in places at this voltage and a

Interesting: 3MW TX power give 8W ERP, so 0,0003% efficiency at a commercial station on 76 Hz. But with that 8W ERP the whole world was covered. And we talk about 120* the frequency and for us, 300km

Rik, Interesting! And if we think about the field pattern of such a ferrite rod antenna it is even more interesting. Are you sure that there was no cross-talk? So, one could record a CW beacon messag
