W1VD and I have used Micrometals iron powder type 2 cores in low pass filters at 137 and 505 kHz. I had trouble with heating on type 3 cores, but the greater number of turns needed for the type 2 fix
Correction: WE2XGR/2, not 3! JA By frequency, that would be Jay, WE2XGR/3 (W1VD), who has been sending regular speed CW nightly on 506.500 kHz. He looks for replies in the first quarter of the hour.
Markus It is definitely CFH, and is quite loud here at 700 km. I have been watching the line on your screen as well! Unfortunately, I'm not set up presently to make an accurate field strength reading
Markus, Curiosity took over, and I attempted a mid-afternoon measurement of the CFH carrier's field strength. I get 235 uV/M at 697 kM. A quick check with a great circle plot shows about 70% of that
Bill, et al: I gave up on it. But if you do go back to it, I'll be happy to participate. There are probably enough of us who have the necessary hardware to do some real world tests. And back to Mike
I'm seeing a very reduced signal from CFH tonight, assuming that's the carrier on 136.956 kHz. Maybe after a month of key-down, something finally melted! John Andrews, W1TAG
WD2XES will be running on 137.7775 kHz with DFCW60 at 250 watts tonight. This is the first run on "Loop II," which turned out to be 75 feet high and 166 feet long. Initial calculations show an 8-9 dB
WD2XGJ and WD2XES were weakly visible on CT1DRP's screen last night around 0100. There was nothing after that for quite a while, but a ghostly XES did turn up at 0730 UTC: I'm not sure if Warren was
Brian, I have been waiting all year for this. I hope there are four happy stations across the water this morning. For my part, Ho Ho Ho! Thanks! John A.
Mike, Thanks for the capture -- nice to get all these Christmas presents! John Andrews Better conditions last night than for some time. A good signal from VO1NA and best ever from XES. Capture is at:
Laurie, I have so many screen shots of G3AQC here from 73 and 136 kHz, that it's nice to finally have one from the other direction! Merry Christmas. John Andrews, W1TAG/WD2XES

Scott, Thanks for the reminder from the VE side. I now remember an earlier email exchange on that subject. And I do agree with your caution in not straying from the purpose of the grant. I suppose th
At some point in the next week, I'd like to try a WOLF beaconing session, with the hope that it could be copied across the pond. This can't be done in the 137.78 kHz "watering hole" due to the bandwi
WD2XES will run in Jason (Slow) mode tonight on 137.779 kHz, starting at 0000 UTC. The latest version of Jason (0.97) is required, and may be downloaded at: http://www.weaksignals.com/bin/jaspak_v097
Wolf, You are making it across the pond! On Markus' screen grabber, that is! Looks interesting. Wish I was there. John Andrews -- Original Message -- From: [email protected][email protected] To: rsg
