Hi Chris,

A .usr file will already have 'optimized' settings (waterfall contrast+brightness, and possible noiseblanker) for a certain receiver / input level to the soundcard, etc.

The easiest way to get started with the real slow modes is from SL's main menu,
"Quick Settings", "Slow morse reception".
Only the "very slow modes" (in the same submenu) are more tedious to configure because there are dozens of methods to compensate soundcard clock drift, etc.

Just dropping in a usr file into the SL folder will give you (more or less) the same result as recalling one of the preconfigured settings mentioned above.
