Stefan - you could simply copy all files into SL's folder for the embedded web server. I tried this a couple of times where Firefox also refused to run javascript when loaded directly from the harddisk. The server will be available on your "local IP" 127.0.0.1 .

I haven't missed your email Stefan, but I'm still pondering
the best way to go about setting that up.

Generating the data files for fbins3 is quite easy with a
little script.  But you need a web server with ssh access
to be able to rsync the data files.   The data files have
to come from the same server that fbins3.html is loaded
from - it's a security thing in the browser.

The two options are for you to modify a copy of fbins3.html
to run from your own web server, or upload your spectrum
files to my server and I'll add a pull-down source selection
to fbins3.
