Hello Joe,
I use NAVTEX 490 and 518 kHz to study propagation.
It is not fool proof due to co-channel interference, but it has its
own surprises.
Amazingly, this service is still extended. E.g. India has recently
opened 7 NAVTEX sites along the coast for transmitting on 490 and
518 kHz.
T/A propagation is a bit down, but I logged 3 Far East NAVTEX
stations yetserday on 518 kHz, which is rare here.
