Well, I have now strung a couple of radials across the grass and connected an(additional) ground outside the shack. Interestingly, the antenna current is no higher - I was expecting this to read higher on the antenna current meter when optimally matched - although reports from M0DSZ (232km) do seem a few dBs higher. This could, of course, just be the time or conditions. Any reports this evening and overnight would be appreciated. I briefly called CQ on FT8, but copied no-one. My ERP is still very low milliwatts, if the antenna current is to be believed. 73s Roger G3XBM |
