OK, I don't have the best of set-ups on 474kHz WSPR. My RX is an FT817 (a bit deaf on 474.2kHz), my antenna the strapped feeder to my 2m big-wheel antenna via an ATU and my earth is the mains socket. Nonetheless, I get nightly spots of MF stations in Germany, Norway, Spain and Italy plus many others. My noise floor is S7-8 on MF. Sadly, I am spotting the same stations again and again. Is there another MF mode that has a wider selection of stations? JT65, JT9, FT8 for example? I am game to try any mode. At the moment I am RX only, although I did TX last season, a bit albeit with a very low ERP. 73s Roger G3XBM |
