The EbNaut message was decoded at the DL0AO club station near Amberg (JN59VK), where a group around DK1IS and DF9RB are currently in the process of setting up a remote VLF receive system. Interestingly, the reception occured on a preliminary "antenna", consisting of the braid of a 300 m long CAT5 cable which will later be used to transport the signals from an active E-probe in the forest. This cable is part of a bundle of several other cables which are running along a metal fence and grounded at either one or both ends. Despite considerable local QRM and contaminated shack ground, they had also managed to pick up last week's two-character message from Stefan, as well as some 8270.0025 Hz carriers from here (48 km). This evening, another transmission starts. Same parameters...
Let's see if the coil survives. It seems to have to do with the higher ambient temperature. I disabled the ALC now, so the antenna current drops with a rising temperature. Antenne current set to 700 mA again, safety limit set to 650 mA... 73, Stefan Am 06.04.2017 17:40, schrieb DK7FC: VLF,
