Thanks, John. It is fascinating how easy it is to make a one-hop
sky-wave transmission on the 136kHz band (say up to 2500km), even in
poor conditions, but how difficult it is to make the next one.
I will continue with the overnight transmission for a few days until
the wind or rain makes it unsafe to do so. On the topic of safety, a
couple of weeks ago I watched a falling leaf catch on my vertical
wire and it started to smoke!
