Thanks Rik,

Maybe you can convince him to become a member of this reflector? Would be helpful for sure.

QRSS10 is a good idea but there are dozens of WSPR RX stations in interesting regions, such as UA0SNV and/or the TA stations.. Thus i would prefer to stay on WSPR.
BTW i would recommend him to build a (tuned) loop, if just standard antennas can be used. Of course there is the cardiodal stuff but this may be to much for the first steps, if these are the first steps.

Hello Stefan,

yes, after reading his blog I did contact Andre. As said he is very interested. I suggested to start with a miniwhip antenna and he is building it right now. If the local QRM is not too bad he should have a decent RX station.

I am not sure the Eu-ZS path is as good as the Eu-FR5 path as apart from the Mediterranean it's land all the way down. But for sure it is worth a try and the it is the right time of the year for north-south grey line propagation.

An alternative for WSPR would be to try to leave a trace on his grabber. I suggested to switch from QRSS3 to QRSS10 for that purpose.

Andre is also collecting the parts needed for a 1 kW transmitter. So maybe we can try to get his signal in fall (he would certainly have a much larger audience in Eu than we in ZS)

PS: what happened with FR5ZX?

Hi Rik,

Have you been in contact with him?
Do you think he has a serious RX? Is it worth a try? Now these days there is the greyline on the straight way from DL to ZS and i had the idea to run a 50% WSPR burst during the sunset time...
If it works to FR5ZX, then it could theoretically work to ZS too (?)
Right now he is not active in WSPR but maybe he will show up in the map. At least i started the TX now until 18 UTC in WSPR 33%...

Hello all,

some days ago I came across the website of Andre, ZS1JEN, and learned that 472-479 kHz is "released" in ZS.

Andre is very interested in 472 kHz (and 136 kHz) and did set up a (temporay) WSPR station and grabber (http://blogzs1jen.dyndns.org:83/472khz-grabber/)

So if anyone wants to try to leave a trace in ZS ...
