Hi Graham. Good idea ! :-)

But probably lack of Rx stations

I'm already transmitting OP32 over 477 dial USB. Continous periods and no WSPR

Let's gain those 10dB ! ;-)

Ok Luis ,

Yes, using G8HUH as the reference , 0dBm was going to be more chance
than expectation ... Very long skip at the moment.

Could try, dropping down to OP32 ???

Same dial set , that would put another +10 db in the cct % fade has
shown, should be able to 'view' at least 40% of the Tx along the time
line...Sets are now quite stable , well inside the 1 or 2 Hz drift

Would need a few emails to set the Rx group up ..as decodes will show
as 136

Hi Graham, MF

It has been a great difference from 5mW to 1mW. May be the limit to get
just an occasional decode
in Opera Deel Search by close stations as EB3FRN just be around 3mW on
antenna

I don't have the right attenuator at hand right now, so will keep at 1mW
tonight
Conditions looks good. Lot of activity in WSPR and long Dx across north
atlantic and to Reunion

Good luck to the chasers ! ;-)

Hi Graham, MF

Running 1mW to antenna at the moment. Measured 0,228V RMS over 50Ohm
A 20dB attenuator from U3 to antenna

Reports on WSPR dropped to -4dB on my monitor

Opera reports from -3dB went to -8dB. So will be very unlike to recive
even Deep Search reports
Can't modify the Tx QRG so often, so will be fixed and let see what
happens

Good luck

Yes Luis ,

Its amazing how coherent random chance can be !

Watched with interest last night, had to drop the wires at 0100 when
the
storm blew in, it was from the SW which is 'ok' for me , W is the
killer, but better to take the weight off the system, the top
loading
coil adds to the drag , though in saying that , its amazing how much
windage the 2 inch tube collects !

Try the final run at 0dB , if the conditions hold or pick up ,
G8HUH
might catch you , but a this level , its all in the lap of Gods
,
or Laurence's Pesky Protons , you have to achieve 40% of the
transmission, the average being = minimum detection set level, at the
application.

Don't forget , Opera decodes , Dynamic detects ,

The local off air decode is working well , you could jump the
frequency
[ 5 or 10 Hz] at every tx/rx change over , The system is 'single
pass'
, that may or may not , add or subtract from the final results,
depending if qrm is +/- on the new qrg . The frequency is only for
cross checking , plays no part in the detection or validation. The
system will validate against your local time stamp, with frequency
available as well as reference.

Traffic is low , so that might give you a edge ?

GL for tonight
73-Graham.

1520.8 Hz with 5mw + Vert 11+80m
20:11 477 EA5DOM de G8HUH Op8 Deep Search 1430 km -35 dB in Somerset
1520.5 Hz with 5mw + Vert 11+80m

And in WSPR the only decodes were from Maxi, EA5CV at 60Km from -28

What's next ?? Down another 3dB or directly to 0dBm ?? :-O

Done

Added another 3dB atenuator to the already in use 10dB
From the 20dBm output of U3 to 520mV over 50Ohm -> 5mW to the
antenna
(NOT ERP)

Power message changed in WSPR and Opera

Reports down 1 to 2dB in my monitor. We are really on the "dummy
limit"
right now

PS: The level of power were a MF antenna radiates as good as a dummy
load

0,742V RMS over 50Ohm. That's 11mW

Can see 1dB down in my WSPR monitor at 7Km. Reports from EA5CV
which were about -25dB are nill now

Really challenging for me and for RX stations. Probably will
get
some spots from EA5CV and EA2HB during the night, but for
 >1000Km
paths it will be very hard, depending on propagation conditions
and noise floor

WSPR power message set to 10dBm and Opera info changed to 0,01w

Your 6 dB in hand with G3XKR , may be more with G8HUH ,

Go for the big 1-0 TEN mW , the stats are not good ,
you need to get a peak aligned with the qsb , but with
8%
fade , but, signal must be holding up ...

Subject: RE: LF: EA5DOM back to MF, but QRP at the moment

Hi Graham, MF

Yes. The efficiency of this antenna setup is really outstanding :-O I can clearly see the signal on my monitor waterfall at 7Km
when injecting -33dBm

Just at sunset between EA and DL I got two WSPR decodes from
DH5RAE and DJ0ABR

2015-11-30 16:00 EA5DOM 0.475608 -29
 0 IM98wn 0.05 DJ0ABR JN68nt
 1556 39
2015-11-30 16:00 EA5DOM 0.475614 -22
 0 IM98wn 0.05 EA5CV IM98ol
 59 261
2015-11-30 16:00 EA5DOM 0.475607 -31
 0 IM98wn 0.05 DH5RAE JN68qv
 1576 39

I have the 3dB atenuator ready to be installed. Will do it when
I
get home in a couple of hours and will change the WSPR tx power
indicator and Opera info to notice the change

Luis, I switched my radio off last night at about 23:30 utc.
I will leave it running opera all night tonight if you want to
try
different power levels again.
