Pat, thank you and stay strong too!

BTW I expect to be doing some QRSS3 tests soon on 136kHz again - a first time at this QTH. As I am not expecting too much with my short baseline earth-electrode "antenna" but if results are encouraging I may ask others to take a look, but no holding breath!

I should be back on 472kHz WSPR (5mW ERP) very soon. At the moment 6m is quite good so I am on that band instead whilst the good conditions last.

Hi Roger,

Just read your mail. No, I am not your kind benefactor but can truly sympathise. I too, at the age of 70 fell victim(?) to a stroke, probably resulting from pre-existing medical problems (I have late-diagnosed genetic haemochromatosis),

I too found people in this community incredibly kind, understanding and generous. Alan, g3nyk is a former colleague and business partner and has helped me to keep an interest as have members of various groups within the amateur radio community.

I trust your stroke was not too debilitating. I have been left with problems in my right leg. My wife who also had a couple of years before me an ischaemic event, unfortunately lost the sight of her left eye. We have learned to (sort of) cope.

What we learned, was that everyone's stroke is different and individual and only really understood by the individual. Even then there are aspects that are difficult to explain to others.

Keep strong.

There are some really kind people in the world.  I have received so many kind and caring emails in the last 18 months all wishing me a speedy recovery from my stroke. Thank you.

Yesterday, in the post, was a small package containing a professional PCB with a built preamp for 136/472kHz. There wasn't even a postmark on the stamp and no note inside. Some kind and generous person just posted me this anonymously.  I honestly can't thank you enough. This is so kind. It will definitely get used.

When you see all the hate and cruelty in our world it is easy to think that most people are unkind. They are not. My stroke has taught me that there are very very many kind and caring people in this world. This very kind person did not even want to reveal his identity.

I really really appreciate your kindness. I have posted this in several places in the hope I'll reach my benefactor. When I am fit again I hope I can be as kind to someone. This is the true spirit of amateur radio. Thank you.
