there is info on them in one of the arrl antenna books and I use one on
144 very small but appears to work as well as a 5/8 wave
appears as a small horziontal loop but radiates as a vert
most odd thing but works well on 2 meters

... so it did on 10 meters, lying on the wardrobe of my student digs in the 1970s: wkd WAC in CW with 50 W.
But sorry up to now no experiences on LF - the spacers seem to be rather long and for a real circle you need a lot of them ;-)
