Hi Chris
There is not very much too it , its
evolved over the years , the latest is a
beacon only version, with the dynamic option
supplied on 136 and 477k only , all
other bands remain as opera data mode
, should the data decoder fail on
136/477 , then a secondary correlation
detector provides additional -5/-6 dB sensitivity . The
switching point OP8 is round -33 dB
depending on local conditions .
Being dynamic , without the web-link , the
call sign list are not maintained ,[
populated by local decodes x 2 the same call ?]
and the web-distributed spots which
are 'validated' by the system are
not available , all spots are uploaded to
the psk-map ,, so caution must be used
when deciding , if a dynamic spot is
real or false , approximate times are + 1
min for 477 and + 4 mins for
136 compared to data decodes. in normal use
the system validates the spots ,
Use wise ,
Rx is as per any other data
mode , audio via sound card , the cat
linked qrg's set USB , but the
system works inverted if need be , s/n
is calibrated , average in 2.4 khz b/w . use ssb
filter , narrow filters will degrade the
performance
Tx , either by audio drive to
ssb Tx [ 1500 Hz] or via the
com-port CW keying output , for a
CW tx , set qrg to mid band ,
replace cw key with a realy or tr
switch , when using audio drive , ensure the
ALC is not engaged , or the out put will
have a spike on the leading edge , the fast
hf modes are less of a problem , due
to tx rate
Cat control tx/rx for most set
ups is provided as well as Transvertor
off set is in the application , to correct
band display etc , any outstanding problems,
let me know and should be able to resolve them
,

Subject: LF: VO1NA Op8 Last Night
Copied VO1NA on 477kHz Op8 several times last night
between 0014 and 0447 UTC, rprt ranging from -27db to -32db.
Over last couple of days, apart from several UK
stations, also copied F6CNI, SO5AS, PA3ABK, IZ7SLZ and SV8CS.
I am surprised at what can be copied considering
the local QRM.
Can anyone tell me where the operating instructions
can be found for EA5HVK's Opera v1.5.7. please? I have been searching, but can't
find it. The 'Help' doesn't actually appear to be very helpful in this respect.
This is not a criticism, probably just me not looking in the right
place.
Thanks.
