For most amateur VLF work, you will do better with Spectrum Laboratory in "locked" mode i.e. locked to a VLF MSK signal. Then you can look for DAYS if need be in extremely narrow bandwidths. Standard commercial RX are not good enough for most amateur uses.

I have the complete technical manual for it but only in paper form, not electronic - used to have one of the receivers too but just a bit too large - and doesn't quite fit in a standard 19 inch rack :-(
If you want to borrow the documentation you are welcome - I could scan it but this will take some time (large manual!).
