Hi Wolf, Domenico, Jim,

Hi Domenico,

There are a few configurations available in SL itself (in the 'Quick Settings' menu under 'Slow Morse Reception / QRSS', and on Stefan's (or was it Markus' ?) site.

It was Markus' site. I'm still using V2.76b18 which works fine for me since years. So my config files are not up to date, maybe, for the latest SL version. Furthermore it is necessary to make several adjustments to make the settings working on the new RX site. Thus i think it may be better to provide e.g. a Teamviewer (temporal) link for remote access for the helping person to the running VLF PC to make individual adjustements.

About the grabber upload, i would also recommend dropbox, which works fine for several grabbers worldwide.

Quite important (for FFT frequency bin widths in the milli- or microhertz range) is the continuous calibration of the sampling rate, because with a normal off-the-self soundcard the sampling rate is not stable enough, resulting in the signal energy being spread across several FFT bins. There are some notes on the possible calibration / drift compensation options in the help system. For details, I suggest to discuss the subject in the spectrum lab user group at yahoo.

To run a grabber, you will need a command-line-driven FTP utility, or some other tool which periodically uploads the screenshots to a website / dropbox / etc . There is no FTP client built inside SL.

Best regards,

Hi all DR OM

i want to test this band and i'm looking to activate a grabber. Someone of you can provide me a suitable .usr file for Spectrum Lab for a 9k grabber ?
I have already downloaded the sw and i want to say a big thanks to DL9YHF for his super job.

Hi Graham, Stefan and Markus,

sri, the TX is still off. Too wet here around

Yes, Stefan, your grabber rcvd the emissions completely.

Graham, I think you mean my equipment. It’s a resonant Marconi design excited by a field winding totally isolated from it. It is tuned by moving one coil into the other or vv. Makes abt 3,5km coil wire, 17m vertical and 300m top wire sloping down to abt 10m. All 1,7mm Litze.

Hi all,

the TX was off from 1348UTC until 1534UTC. I had to repair the antenna.

One of the top load wires came down. The ribbon behind the isolator changed to coal

(corona effect during rain periods).

Tks for reports.

Sri for the QRM, Markus.

Hi Uwe,

no luck here so far. The primary reason seems to be a slightly unstable QRM line centered on 8970.3 Hz, probably one of many emitted by the railway line 400 m away (see lower part of grabber window). For me, eg. 0.2 Hz lower would be a clear frequency. But as QSY from your side would imply reparking all the other grabbers, I guess I'll just have to live with it for the time being. Will keep on trying anyway...

mom it is raining.

yes, Markus, it is the same ant and the same pwr (a new DJ 4kW-PA, output reduced to 500W). and no, I don’t know what it is at -38mHz. Paul will know, I guess.what abt ur grabber? new URL?

Wonderful news Uwe

I had to abandon the attempt to find you last night as my storage battery failed.  :-(

This morning using Solar Power my RX is just up and producing the first display.

I assume you are still on as I have peak at 9870.022Hz. In 424uhz, the 47uhz window is not ready yet.

Now for some battery work down in a cold shed  so i can continue after dark.
