Markus, Jay, Gary and other thanks for the look. Conditions are still not good to the East or North and my lack of decodes to the West means its probably pretty poor up here. Just have to wait till all the planets, stars, comets are aligned..just can be some time.

At 0500 local (1200Z) and everything was fine - the tuning was still on the nose even though we have warmed up to 0C - power modules are just a couple of degrees above ambient, and the shack lights perceptively  dim reassuringly when the Tx is keyed :-)

I did have to take the small Mica out of circuit as it was causing thermal/cap drift and ill install a 200pf Sangamo G2 later in the week as Im nearly fully meshed with the vacuum cap. ill redo my current sharing calc and ensure I have the best load configuration in the coupler. We were sitting at around 42A  last night which is fine.

Ill turn off the Tx at around 0900 local 1600Z as we will have "fish and game" officers wandering the forest today removing a dead Moose carcass. On the same vein -  I heard a clunking outside the window last night where the GPS antennae is and it appears one of my young Moose has a taste for thin coax. I persuaded it to move on - I recall Raychem adding something to the coax mix for low temp cables making them taste bad to vermin - we used to suffer from Arctic foxes chewing on them or spans of coax being used as "swings".

Have a super day -

Jay, Laurence,

several opds detections of WD2XNS last night. Zoomed spectrogram at
df6nm.bplaced.net/opera/opds32_131125_0658.png

Unforetunately not a trace yet from WE2XPQ on 137552, only the predicted neighbouring Loran lines:

WD2XNS running OPDS32 on 137553 for a while tonight.

Laurence,

just checked for potential Loran lines listed in
The closest ones in Europe will be 137551.6736 Hz (GRI 7499, Sylt) and 137551.7783 Hz (GRI 7001, Bo), and in Japan 137552.8701 Hz (GRI 9930). In the eastern US, 137551.3906 Hz (GRI 8270) could be a near one in case the Wildwood NJ experimental Loran station came on air again.

Anyway considering the Op-32 modulation bandwidth of about 0.125 Hz, all of these lines would be spaced far enough from your intended QRG.

Markus

I should have asked - but Ive put myself close to the centre of the windowed Op32 passband - not sure if anyone else has plonked themselves closeby? - Im about 3Hz higher than BDQ decoded freq - tell me to move if Im QRMing... :-) or suggest a freq.

No arcing as of yet - ambient temp inside the tuner helping but the spiders are probably not happy now.  Nice to be back on Tx -  Im backed off a fair way on power as  Im pushing a smaller mica past its current derating at 137kHz, and that should be replaced next week hopefully - Ill go out with the active laser thermo-meter in a while and look for component heating - always a good idea
