Thanks for the images, they are very nice! Maybe i will start some experiments with tubes some day.

At work we've done some simple experiments with car bulb (glass body destroyed) burning in vacuum (arround 1E-8 mbar). We applied about 120V between the filament and case and actually got an emission current of a few 100 uA. That was exciting :-)
