Hugh,

yes Mike is right about the low end of the band suffering from QRM. If you could go up to the "Eu slot" (136172 +- 3 Hz, close to a spectral minimum in the HGA sidebands) you'll find several grabbers watching continuously for slow QRSS. Using daytime groundwave, Stefan and I were able to see each other across 180 km with ERP down to about 2 uW.

73, and good luck for your experiments,

Markus (DF6NM)

Hugh,

What is your default mode? Will you be beaconing or calling CQ? What
should I listen/watch out for?

The choice of frequency is a little odd, there are S9 sidebands from
the HGA telegrams and S5 RTTY from SXV which will be very strong
after dark. Are you crystal controlled? 1kHz further HF would be much
better.
