Minto,
Yes this has the e4000 tuner , I
was about to order one with the r820t
tuner , for the extended range , may be
Robert can comment on his, as to sensitivity
?
73-G.
NB: Im running Op4 on 477 at the
moment and just decoded at 17:25 477
PA0WMR Op4 -33 dB
-33 is 3 dB past the expected lower
level , so may be , the a/d alone
is enough for MF , the noise level must
be over 0.1 uV ...?

Hi Graham,
Interesting… 0.1 uV is
not bad. Should be good enough. What type of tuner does your dongle have btw?
E400 or R820T. Maybe you mentioned
it but then I forgot. I just popped the hood on my dongle, it has the R820T.
So for comparison I will order one with the E400?

TEST
Minto
Quick test at 0.1 uV pd as before
, dongle agc = off , gain = max
Good tone from the speaker at this
level , the drift 433 MHz is possibly the
xtal oven in the sig-gen warming up as well
as the dongle
low trace at 999 MHz , needed
about 0.3 0.4 uV for 'tone' but
I would not be 100% sure the dongle was looking
at the indicated level from the gen , also
the coax is still attached , but 0.1
uV to give these plots at vhf is reasonable
?
