Hello Stefan,

NAVTEX is a robust mode and needs only 6 dB SNR for a proper decode.

On 518 kHz, I have logged New Orleans to he west and several stations fromthe far East of which Naha, Japan at about 9800 km is the most distant.


These stations are using a modest power of .5 to 1 kW.
