Not the first time , there was a time when G8 calls could use HF
, till the next issue of the London Gazette was published ..
unfortunately electronic comm's are slightly faster these days

And perhaps if a fuss hadn't been made it may not have been noted?

Dear all,

beginning about 16.00 UTC I heard G3KEV and DK7FC in QSO on 472 kHz

Mal and the other UK early adopters better make good use of 472 tonight:

this is a cut/paste from the 5MHz group from John Gould:

=============================

Apologies for any confusion.

Ofcom have been busy working on this, particularly in the past few days,
and we had to get the on-line issuing started prior to our HQ web master
starting Christmas leave. From the inside it has been extremely busy to
get this sorted out in time.

Ofcom provide basic information on the NoV at

http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/radiocommunication-licences/amateur-radio/full-licence-jan-2013/

The new NoVs (for 472 kHz and 5 MHz) are only effective from 1st
January. There was a glitch on the web server that meant that the first
few issued had an error, which we will be considering how to correct
tomorrow.

===================================

Looks like the erroneously dated NoVs (mine included) will be rescinded
tomorrow.

A one-night only opportunity to open your Xmas presents early!
