Sorry Joe, my posting may not have been valuable for debugging.
 
I've been (and currently am) running r2711. The audio level is at the lowest possible setting, giving about 25 to 30 dB on the green bar, but I don't think that is the problem. Sorry I didn't save wavs last night, but will try to produce some showing the erroreous message. 
 
Right now Stefan is being decoded just fine in JT9-1, only the displayed SNR seems way too low.

With such a report, PLEASE specify what version of WSJT-X you were
running, and send me at least one *.wav file that, when opened, produces
your well known friend.
