Just reading your email and the later correction
for 10 minutes. Will need some setting up.
OK I will give it a try.
It is now 15:14 UTC

Hi Terry, Jay, Joe, LF,
Thank you Terry, you didn't miss any WSPR-32 transmission! :-) Also thanks to
Jay for providing the useful data from the transatlantic path! Here the results
are looking most promising as well. Sri for the non decodes of DF6NM. But maybe
in the next test!
The SNR levels are very high.
I would like to evaluate the effect of sferic blanking to the WSPR signals and
its performance. If sferic balnking, done in SpecLab, improves the WSPR
performance significantly, then this may be important for Joe and the new JT8
mode which is intended for MF/LF where QRN is much more dominant and aggressive
than on 20m or so.
For the next test i suggest to use WSPR-8 again, on the same QRG. I shall
reduce the power level by 20 dB. Then Terry, i would like to have an audio
recording, a wav file generated in SpecLab. If possible, my signal should be in
the center of a SSB filter bandwidth (or wider), directly coming from the
soundcard. Timing is critical again. You must start the recording exactly when
my transmission begins and it must be stopped after exactly 8 minutes! Then you
can pass me the file in Dropbox.
I will then replay the file in SpecLab, in an endless loop. First i will use
the file as it is, to confirm the decoding works and the decode levels are
always the same. Then, i will add a 2.5 kHz bandpass and apply sferic blanking
by using the SL noise blanker. In QRSS/DFCW this makes a subjective improvement
of 6...10 dB, depending on the noise levels.
If we can get another 6 dB by that, then is assume that W1VD will successfully
decode DF6NM, which would be a nice confirmation.
Jay, the DST levels according to http://lasp.colorado.edu/space_weather/dsttemerin/dsttemerin.html
must have been very good for transatlantik LF work, right?
Jay, would you like to try run the WSPR (including the add-on tools from
Markus) "behind" the band filter and NB that you're using to display
the EU60 band on your grabber tonite?
First i have a "onw-way-sked" with Martin
and also try to leave traces at http://icas.to/argo/eu.htm
in QRSS-120. Conds are excellent! Later i would send some sequences in WSPR-8.
For the recording and tests, it may anyway be better to use the typical
night-QRN when the band is opened between Terry and me...
Terry, OK?
For testing and comparing night time QRN levels and daytime groundwave QRN/QRM
levels and the difference of sferic blanking it may be even useful to have 2
recordings. Thus i will NOW start
to run the TX in WSPR-8 with a 20 dB lower LF signal compared to the typical
values. I'll run the beacon in 100% mode so that Terry or someone else can
easily take the recording (if you like to participate in the test). The beacon
runs until about 17 UTC, then i have to QSY to QRSS-120.
