Dear MF,
I just copied DJ5BV calling CQ on 472.63 kHz. RST 449, lots of QRN.
Hmmmm, i know that call from somewhere but don't remember. Hopefully
this will be a very active band in the coming months and years. Could
make some hope for amateur radio world below 1 MHz.
Is this now the de-facto centre of CW activity on this band?
Good question! At least a CW center of activity on the lower end of the
band is in analogy with the HF/VHF/UHF bands. Also this QRG is free of
NDB QRM, at least since i'm watching the band and local grabbers. The
only reason why i focus on 476.5 kHz is that this QRG is still displayed
on the Delft web sdr and i have low local QRM there as well...
I think the CW sector needs a larger quiet region (a full free kHz would
be fine) while a digimode has no problem with a carrier a few Hz apart.
The spectrum of the new band looks very quiet at G4WGT.
We will make our experiences, especially in the winther.
