Mid Summer Madness on 500K
As the Summer Solstice nears , far from 500k
closing, Opera beacon and QSO activity
continues at a fair rate !
although a little clunky , the QSO mode is
providing data com's UK/PA as well
as inside the UK with 50 watt
power levels in daylight
The beacon covering reasonable distance at power
levels under 10 watts , reducing to 1w or 2w
in the night
Monitoring via the web-sdr system is possible , but
timing jitter will reduce the system's
ability to decode at the lower s/n levels ,
as (by accident I found out) also will using the
VOX to key the station on the longer
time modes , ie OP4 etc , the shortening due
to the switching times , prevented decodes at the lower
limits, switching to PTT , produced
a instant decode from PA3ABK .
