Hi Wolf,
Yes i tried to buy one from WIMA so i sent them a request. It was a 14V
/ 420 F / 900A type (SCMCA3B420MC00MV00 at
http://www.wima.com/DE/supercap_mc_block.htm). I intended to switch it
in parallel to my old battery in my car since i was nerved to replace
it each few years. Also i just wanted to play with it. But the price,
even including a discount of 30% for the university was very close to
1000 EUR!
But its quite a fascinating technic and i hope they will become cheeper
in the next few years. That is the perfect energy storage! Leight
weight, low volume, low internal resistance, lifetime 500,000
charge/discharges. Also interesting for the HF friends to drive a PA
when beeing /p or /m for calling the own callsign in a pile up, taking
5 kA current consumption :-)

Hi Stefan,
Yes, 3000 Faraday sounds reasonable. But the price may not.
Guess this is the type of capacitor used in 'batteries' to start large
Diesel engines in trains (no kidding).
Cheers,
Wolf .

Hello Markus and group,
I will certainly look out for the signal. Only have to modify the
soundcard's input coupling capacitor a tiny bit, guess I must connect a
second capacitor in parallel. But sure there is something suitable in
the junk-box.
If not, try one of these: http://www.wima.com/DE/supercap_c60.htm
