Ok Mal
Looks like your running ok at the moment , as
long as you net inside the audio band .then
all ok .. for Rx just use the
ssb filter.. a no need for a sharp filter as
the software, takes care of that side ..
. The longer op16 did not
give good results over long dx , possibly due to
the 'flash' propagation , the faster
versions , can put more 'data' into the decoder
during the peaks , once Op is over about 55%
then a decode (should) take place , the data
loss can be randomly lost during the tx time
..... yes for ground wave , then the longer
versions will decode at lower levels ..on
136 OP8 and OP32 are giving good
results , from what can be seen on qrss
screen shots , 30 mins looks to be about the
average ''up time'' for most signals
at range ..
Tnx -G.

I am using a CW TX and place the carrier on 501.5 Khz. and
likewise on 137.5 Khz I assume this is correct. Using a ssb TX needs a different
approach. The RX end might be more critical but I suppose if one selects
the USB mode with sufficient bandwidth to receive the transmission between
the green lines it should work.
To take advantage of a RX with a narrow cw filter it
might be an advantage to use CW mode and adjust the BFO to position the received
transmission in the correct slot. I must try this

Mal,
Make sure you are in the right frequency
band for the speed , or no stations will
decode you , 501.5 is on the change over
frequency . stay with OP4 as 16 is
not giving good decodes at range.

I could try tonite START 2300 utc 501.5 signal freq.
Sigs to the West are low at present on 137 es from now on will not be as good
as over the peak Xmas period generally speaking

501.5 kHz was clear this side last
night ... will be glad to park a receiver on 501.5 to look for your (or
any other EU) signals. Note that Stefan's signal was more than 10 dB
down from usual last night although it looks like we're getting
a fairly quick DST index recovery from the latest event.

Bob, 497 is still in the
cluttered area ie 498.5 actual freq. How about 508 or higher for NA
tx. In the UK 501.5 is not the ideal freq either, bad for the
traditional CW operator working around 501.5 - 502.5 Khz. How about a
spot higher up like 504 near the top band edge out of the
way.
East coast USA stns let me know when the freq is
clear and I will try some OPERA before the dx season dries up for
this year.

G; N6ry had a long list of decodes. Going west the band was
good. N6RY was rxing anywhere from -17 to -21. Also decodes
from W0YSE in UTAH he was having bad QRN condtions but still some solid
decodes. Nothing from VK. Surprisingly nothing across the pond.
Hopefully better tonite. I have been asked to move out of the DX
window as it is rite in your small transmit freq window. Some rxing
stations here in NE are trying to decode UK/EURO opera/ros. Wish them
luck but skip as of late has been short with very strong
sigs close in. I overload their RX. I checked PA3WEG RX
and 497 dial [498.5 sigs] looks very clean. I'll fire up there and
notify on 600 mrg-lowfer-opera about move. Will be on 497 start
agn at
