Hi Walter we were too, but it was a "European" thing: :-)) the EBU defined a 9kHz grid. with no thought of history. of usage. Alan G3NYK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Walter Staubach" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 08, 2011 9:46 PM Subject: LF: BBC 198 Sorry to hear abt BBC on 198 QRT. When I was a young man after WWII we often listened to this station in the Ruhr area to practice English. And our first exact frequency generator was baseg on Droitwich. 6SJ7 or similar as amplifier followed by 6SL7 or 6SN7 as square-wave generator 200kHz. The harmonics were calibrating points up to many MHz. The equipment was built in a small aluminum bread bin. And we were angry, when the frequency was shifted to 198kHz. |
