John (et al) The Fens is an area of very flat, mainly peat, soil in the east of England. It is characterised by boringly flat landscapes criss-crossed with long straight roads and water courses, many of which were created in the 1600s by Dutch engineers to improve the agricultural potential. Today it is a very rich farming landscape where much of the UK's crops and foods are grown. My QTH is just off the fenland which starts about 200m west of me and goes on for miles and miles! Great place for birdwatching and VLF experimenting, HI. 5m of sea rise from global warming and I shall be at the seaside. 73s Roger G3XBM On 17 July 2011 19:28, John Bruce McCreath <[email protected]> wrote: Hello Roger, -- http://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/ http://www.g3xbm.co.uk http://www.youtube.com/user/g3xbm https://sites.google.com/site/sub9khz/ |
