A big difference here on LF where some do not know what CW sounds like !! Some real fast merchants on the higher frequencies as you say.

Mal.
Working these exotic countries is ok if you cw speed is 25wpm or above, with my 15 - 16 wpm they do not want to work you. I have called CQ for hours when there are stations all around me calling at speeds that I will never achieve, but non come back to me, so with my very basic station LF is the only band available to me, even  on 40m  cw speeds seem to have dramatically increased so I will still be on LF when time allows.

It seems LF/MF is now a waste of time, the reward does not justify the effort. At present 10m is wide open to S.America, LU5FR and others are booming in on CW in QSO MODE!!!
After many years experimenting on the lower frequencies, for me it is getting near the time to PULL THE PLUG except things dramatically change which I think is not going to happen. On LF some years back there were over 30 countries active now only a couple of stations are to be seen on QRS and no one on CW.
