Chris,

"not a trace", but a few bright pixels on the right frequency:

On the 56 uHz spectrogram (one hour per pixel from 2:34 till 16:34 UT, spectrum plot shown with cursor on 12:34), there is a slant blob on 8976.6616 Hz. The frequency appears to be rising by a couple of bins - would you perhaps be able to confirm a 10 ppb upward drift?

The 0.48 mHz spectrogram also has row of brighter pixels on .662 between 10:30 and 13 UT. All this is probably not yet a proven detection but at least a positive hint.

The upper part of both screenshots contains a transmission from Ossi 'ODL around 8969.974 Hz.

Markus

Hi Chris,

looking out for you in a 56 uHz FFT again - nothing visible yet but of course there's a delay due to the 5 hour integration.

Interesting to note the ups and downs of your signal on Eddie's grabber. Based on your kite info, I'd estimate your average EMRP in the 10 to 20 uW area. Should be within range of here, if QRN / QRM will remain benevolent, and if you can stay on long enough with the kite.

Best wishes,
Markus (DF6NM)

LF,

Thanks to Eddie (Northampton), Roger (nr Cambridge) and Paul (Todmorden) for the reports and screen shots.

The kite is still aloft despite nearly snagging a nearby tree several times.
The wind is gusting and changing direction quite rapidly which is causing big fluctuations in aerial current. The max current is about 0.25A min about 0.15A

I estimate the aerial height as being between 40 - 50m (occasionally down to 15m!) with 70m of total wire run out.

Provided the wind doesn't shift too far to the East (where there's danger of snagging house TV aerials) and the kite doesn't break free I'll leave the set up as it is.
