Hello VLF,
today in the morning I went /p on hills behind my QTH with three different antennas: my old "easyloop", a BBB-4-like E-probe and another probe based on Stefan's design. I recorded about 36 minutes for each of the antennas with my little Zoom H1 recorder (at 48Ksamples/second, 24 bits/sample), then post-processed the WAV files at home in SpecLab with 2.9mHz FFT and 60 seconds/pixel.
The loop was used from 7:02 to 7:38 UTC, the BBB-4 from 7:41 to 8:17 UTC and the Stefan's probe from 8:28 to 9:05 UTC. The attached screenshots show the final results, that look much better to me than results I obtained at home during previous Stefan's experiments, with the "easyloop" directly connected to my PC.I couldn't stay /p in the afternoon, so I completely missed the 5170Hz transmission.
Also, unfortunately , I didn't manage to find a place both easy to reach and far from any noise source. In fact, there were high-voltage power lines as close to my listening position as 50-100m or so. The broadband capture (with Stefan's E-probe) can give you an idea of the noise level :-(
Anyway, based on today's result, next time I will carry only one E-probe with me and the little Zoom H1, so it will be possible for me to climb up to a more suitable position :-)
Many thanks and compliments to Stefan and other dreamers for their great work!
Best regards
Daniele
