Hello group.
Has anyone any experience with this SDR ?
It looks interesting and I'm a bit tempted, especially as it works
full spec down to 500 Hz and "usable" to 100 Hz.
But as I have never used an SDR, I haven't got a clue if it's any good
or not.
Hi Tony, LF group,
i am also a happy owner of sdr-iq. As Lubos and Andy say, it is indeed a
nice piece of radio equipment
and as its name implies - the software which drives the hardware is
mainly responsible for the way you are using it
The basic software which RFSpace offers along with SDR-IQ module is
Spectravue however this makes the sdr more as
spectrum analyser than a classical receiver. However, the RFspace
website has link to another software , which, in turn makes
SDR a nice , "classical" receiver with plenty of 'knobs' ; user
programmable 'buttons' etc...
follow the link to SDR-RADIO software
Both the above mentioned programs have also a sound card input so before
making the purchase you can download the software
define sound card as the "source' and play with it - of course with the
obvious limits concerning the frequency
there is also another soft ( which is not mentioned on RFspace website)
which was written for the specific input of sdr-iq
it is named sigmira and can be downloaded ( freely) from:
http://saharlow.com/technology/sigmira/index.htm
All existing software which uses audio output from transceivers for
,say,"digital" demodulation ( rtty,psk,sstv...) and also WSJT packages
can be used with spectravue program ( driving the sdr) via VAC ( virtual
audio cable)
the above aplies also for DRM (Dream software) however, i have never
had a full success with it
though the signal looked to be strong enough for a continous demodulation
i guess, you probably know the "connection" between SDR-IQ and EVE
experiment
after Wolf, dl4yhf, description of this fantastic experiment:
http://www.qsl.net/dl4yhf/speclab/earth_venus_earth.htm
i simply e-mailed Rfspace ... and since then i enjoy the radio :)
