I believe when you are measuring decent crystal
oscillators
with e.g. the SDR-IQ you can not be sure
if you meaure its own phase noise
(of the clock oscillator) or that of the
DUT.
Indeed one can use *very clean* OCXOs to measure
the SDR's phase noise.
I've done this with my Perseus using a Wenzel
OCXO
(probably the same that Peter Hart
uses).

And just as useful as a piece of test equipment too - I use mine for
phase noise measurements of crystal oscillators / PLLs when its not
receiving LF - HF signals
Only downside is that it only shows 190kHz spectrum in one go.
