And thanks to Andy, I understand now why I never succeeded in trying to supply my DELL D630 laptop with a 12V + a 6 V battery ...
Hope the LLPower / LIND power supplies are fitted with the magic EEPROM

Dell used to sell them as accessories. LL Power have a web-site at http://www.llpower.com
Remember that these switch-mode adapters will cause RF interference!
