Hello LFers,

Whatever wire you wind your coils with, make up a corona ring of soft 3/4" 
copper pipe and place it at the top
of your coil assembly.  Be sure to leave a slight gap so that it doesn't form a 
shorted turn!  I've used them on
my Tesla coils with total success in stopping arcs and sparks where they DIDN'T 
belong.
