This tuner that I have contains and additional unit on the left hand side
but in the same box. The extra unit has a antenna terminal, white ceramic
like the other large one and a vacuum relay behind it, antenna change over
relay. Must be a late model or variation but not mentioned in any documents.
I got the unit in GI land so I expect it came from one of the ex RAF/USAF
bases in the area like TOOME, CLONTOE or one of the others.
Some of the old USAF buildings are still standing at these bases.
If you want a photo of the unit let me know.

Mal,
There is only ONE B-29 that is still considered airworthy (out of
nearly 4,000 B-29's built).
The one airworthy B-29 "Fifi" is in need of an engine overhaul.

I have seen the Enola Gay at the Air and Space Museum's Steven F.
Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport outside of Washington, D.C.

I have a photo of the Enola Gay signed by Col. Tibbets as well.

The BC-306 tuning is a good one too. Inside it is a tapped coil +
variometer, maximum inductance about 1.2 mH.

Look out for ATU type CU - 25/ART - 13 called MAMA BEAR ex B29 BOMBER
AIRCRAFT radio equipment. Range 200 - 600 Kcs with 200 feet trailing
wire
antenna.
Contains variometer, switches and vac relay.
I have a nice specimen at my QTH.
Ideal for 500 Kcs antenna matching.
Maybe someone has used one in a B29
