I am still copying Roger GW3UEP in the middle of the day. Find
attached a short .mp3 recording made at 1030z (hopefully small enough
to go through the reflector. I have put a slightly longer version
along with my other recordings at http://my.opera.com/davews/blog/
This was using my 200Hz filter in the K2 and with its KAF2 audio
filter to reduce the audio bandwidth - just hovering around the noise
most of the time but clearly copyable.

Not sure of your QTH Roger and you don't appear in qrz.com. A locator
would be useful so I can work out the distance between you and
Bracknell (IO91PJ).

I am not really that convinced that there is a daytime cliff edge
effect on 500kHz. I can certainly copy quite a few stations at
considerable distance and consistently. 'HXO is still easy copy up
the band though somewhat weaker than earlier. Who I don't copy well
at the moment is Finbar and although I copy DI2BE well at night I
have not heard SM6BHZ for a while - it may be that he is in permanent
daylight this time of year.
