Hello all,
Last night I have been monitoring the 500 kHz
signal of SM6BHZ.
The signal suffered from heavy fading, which is
common for this frequency and distance.
It peaked at 30 dB over the band noise and
was almost completely gone within a minute and vice versa. There were also
periods of fairly constant reception.
Signal strength was measured with a SPM-30 SLM
and 24 Hz bandwidth.
Aural copy was excellent in the 2400 Hz
bandwidth of my AR7030, which was also used to make the attached ARGO
screenshot. The AGC was disabledand and the fading is apparent.
Looking at Henny's screenshot, I don't find
little fading. Did you use AGC?
The antenna used was a pa0rdt-Mini-Whip, the size
of half a film canister mounted 5 metre up a magnolia tree.
Best regards,
