Thanks Gary - this is a fascinating site. Almost spent two hours there..
just read the article about the "1919-style" amateur radio *mobile*
operation on 150 meters, which looks a bit like the topload some of us
use today ( http://earlyradiohistory.us/1919auto.htm ) .
