Hi Roelof
Can you be quite sure the feedline is not contributing to your
received signal level? Any variation in strength with height would be
a good indication that it is.
Interesting to note your proposed use of the BFR96- have to say
2N5109s are not easy to find now. Is the BFR96 used in this instance
from the SMD aspect and is there any performance degradation from
this.

Hello all,
I have designed a new PCB for the mini-whip with SMD parts, except
for the
2N5109.
The latter will be exchanged for a BFR96 in the near future.
Testdriving the new board last night, VO1NA and WD2XGJ were received
quite
well.
Joe's signal peaked one hour before local sunrise.
A screenshot of WD2XGJ is in the next e-mail
It is amazing to realise that these signals were received on a
square inch
of copperclad PCB. The complete board measures 22 x 60 mm.
Best regards,
Roelof Bakker, pa0rdt
