The AR5000 series of receivers have been designed &
manufactured by our
associate company in Japan who are responsible for international
distribution, the appointment of national distributors and support:

I wonder what specific query you have regarding the 10MHz external
reference, here are a few comments...
1) Selection of the external 10MHz / internal 12.8MHz
reference is via a
menu.
2) From our experiments, the minimum drive level is about 0dBm, about
10dB above this level (+10dBm) appears necessary to ensure
PLL LOCK on
all bands. We have driven the AR5000 successfully from our workshop
reference of 5V.
3) Only the master oscillator is controlled by this
reference, the radio
uses three oscillators in its superheterodyne circuit, so use
of a 10MHz
reference does not make the radio fully frequency / phase
coherent. AOR
used to make a custom version for coherence called the AR5000C, it is
no-longer available.
4) Typical drift using the internal 12.8MHz reference can be
viewed on

I hope my comments will be of assistance.
