I've made both quad helix and crossed dipole GPS antenna in the past - the details are on the web somewhere if you search  -  but its hardly worth it now - they are so cheap and available surplus.

I have also made one in the past and it worked, but I thought someone might have something special using the latest technology. One store quoted a £100 for one. Mine was made from bits out of junk and cost nothing.
I do not mind paying something reasonable but two persons have promised me free samples.

Hi All
Does anyone have a good active antenna design for a GPS rx.
Tnx de Mal/G3KEV
You certainly can't get much more LF than that:-)

Joking apart, I've never even considered making one.
You can buy them new online for around £15, standard 5 volt supply via the coax, and I would have thought it could end up costing more than that to make your own in small quantities.
