For anyone with an RS Components distributor nearby,

I see in their latest catalogue they have introduced a full range of ferrite cores including gapped and ungapped 'kits'  that go up to the ETD 59 series (59mm across)

The ETD 59 has a volume of 51,000 mm^3 and would be quite good for a high power PA.
Other forms appear to go up to 100,000mm^2

213-4212  etc

While we're talking components.  For general info:
There is a new series of current monitoring chips available in the USA.
The devices use some form of hall effect device to sense current passing between two terminals on the IC.  The internal electronics converts this into a 0 - 5V DC output which can be used to e.g. drive meters, a trip circuit or  the input to an A-D converter etc.

These IC's are designed for high currents. The range goes from about 10 Amps to 150Amps and all this current flows through the IC (!)  Needless to say that for the larger current range the terminals that carry the current are very substantial indeed.
