It has always been my understanding that the internationally understood convention of Latitude and Longitude was unambiguous and capable (with the assistance of relevant technology - timing, astro-sighting or whatever and GPS) of whatever degree of accuracy was required by the user.
In Amateur Radio usage, it seems to me that the various locator systems have arisen from the need to present location information in abbreviated form suitable for voice communication using phonetic alphabet characters under DX-chasing or contest operations in the VHF and UHF amateur bands.
Bearing in mind that many LF operators are using the reflector and similar to exchange information supplementary to actual QSO's it seems hardly relevant to use such locator systems which in any case usually require translation back to Lat. and Long.
