Dear LF Group,
Seems to have been a busy weekend on LF, with many
stations QRV. Z38AR and Z38AV were putting excellent QRSS signals into the UK
much of the time, allthough working them was a bit difficult due to a mix of QRM
and QSB at my end. Lots of other good signals seen from RU6LA, HA6PC, and
several others, allthough I did not call them because G3XDV was trying very hard
to work the Z3 stns, and being only about 10km apart and within 100Hz, we tend
to anihilate each other on receive!
I also saw the best signals for some time from
VO1NA, "XES" and "XGJ" - VO1NA would have been solid copy at QRSS3 quite a
lot of the time - see attachment from around 0700 this morning.
This afternoon I had a nice QSO with DF0WD using
Alberto's new "Jason Fast Turbo" mode, which has a capability
of around 6 words per minute, so should appeal to "non-CW" stations. It is
suitable for class D PAs, and subjectively seems to work with similar
signal levels to CW - if there is a good audible signal, you get almost
perfect copy, while if the signal is down in the noise and barely audible
you still get some copy, allthough obviously not as good as with the slower
Jason modes.
Cheers, Jim Moritz
