Hello All,

Robert's transmission last Sunday night-- Monday

morning was rather disappointing.

The magnetic storm on the Sun during previous
few days may have been a factor..

Hi Stan, I am sorry to hear of the disappointing results of your test. It is
a little surprising as that path seems as though it ought to be a good one.
The Geomagnetic storm may have left some absorption behind but it did seem
to be decaying quite rapidly. The path is probably similar in length to our
path from VO1NA (abt 3500 km ) also mainly over water, and Joe is usually
heard/seen in the UK whenever he is transmitting. He uses about 120 W to a
50 foot inverted "L" and QRSS30. It is not unusual to get "unfavourable
nights" when the fading does not help the signal. In stable conditions this
can wipe out the complete night, as there are no changes to push the signal
up. This is usually location dependent and one receiving station will get
nothing whilst another will see good signals all night.

Thanks for posting the details

regards
Alan G3NYK
